XTB withdrawal basics

Here, you will find a step-by-step guide on how to withdraw funds from your XTB account.

What is withdrawal?

Taking money out of a bank account is easy. The bank holds your money, and when you want to access it, you can withdraw some or all of your funds.

With broker accounts it is a bit more complicated. You might want to access your funds because you want to reap the benefits of your trades, or simply, you just need some cash for a new phone.

In case you might have uninvested money sitting in your brokerage account, withdrawing should be straight-forward.

But if your funds are invested, you might need to first sell some assets that you own if you want to get money. This could take a few days. Once you close your position, the brokers usually have two days to finish the process, and make your money available on your broker account.

Ok, now you know that there might be extra steps if you want to withdraw money from the broker. Let’s see the different methods available usually for withdrawal.

What are withdrawal methods?

Typically, you have the following options when it comes to withdrawal:

  • Credit/debit card
  • Bank transfer
  • Electronic wallets

The bank account, e-wallet or card needs to be in your name when you deposit or withdraw, you cannot transfer money to a third party.

Unlike some deposit options, withdrawal is rarely instant. It usually takes at least 1 business day, but often several business days for your money to arrive.

Withdrawal via bank transfer is by far the most common option. It is available at basically all brokers.

Bank transfer is the only withdrawal option available at XTB, putting it at a slight disadvantage over brokers.

When withdrawing money to your account it matters what currency you have on your bank account and what is your XTB account’s base currency.

Let’s say your XTB account’s base currency is EUR, however you only have USD available at your bank account. If you decide to withdraw some EUR to your USD-based bank account, you will be charged a conversion fee because your EUR has to be converted to USD.

If you chose XTB as your broker, here is a step-by-step guide on how to withdraw your funds.

Through XTB’s Client Office:

  • Log into XTB
  • Visit the ‘Client Office’ by clicking on the right upper corner of the page
  • Click on the ‘Dashboard’, then ‘Withdrawal’
  • Here you need to add your bank account and its details (bank name, bank account country, currency, IBAN number), and a photo of your bank statement so that XTB can verify the account (this is done only at the first withdrawal). You can add multiple bank accounts
  • Choose the trading account you want to withdraw from
  • Enter the amount you want to withdraw
  • Submit your withdrawal request

Or do the same process through the xStation trading platform of XTB:

  • Click on the ‘Withdrawal’ button on the xStation platform
  • Add bank account details if you haven’t already done so
  • Select the trading account you would like to withdraw funds from

If your bank account is in a different currency to your trading account, Bank Pekao – Poland’s second largest bank – will convert the amount.

Note that just like other brokers, XTB processes withdrawals to bank accounts only where the client is the bank account holder, it does not send funds to third parties.
