Why choose KBC Equitas

KBC Equitas is a Hungarian stockbroker whose parent company is Belgium's KBC Group. It is unique on the Hungarian market as it offers access to many stock exchanges and has a very strong parent company (KBC Bank). We also liked the education and research services it provides. It is a good choice for beginner investors.

On the negative side, the account opening is slow and not very user-friendly. There is a withdrawal fee, and you can only use bank transfer to deposit funds.

BrokerChooser gave KBC Equitas a 3.9/5 rating based on analyzing 600+ criteria and testing via opening a live account.

  • Many stock exchanges to trade on

Score: 3.1/5
KBC Equitas has average trading and non-trading fees, including low fund fees and no inactivity fee. However, there is a withdrawal fee and a custody fee is also charged.
  • Low fund fees
  • No inactivity fee

We compared KBC Equitas's fees with two similar brokers we selected, Interactive Brokers and Saxo Bank. These competitors were selected based on objective factors like products offered, client profile, fee structure, etc. See a more detailed comparison of KBC Equitas alternatives.

Average stock and ETF commission

KBC Equitas US stock fees are much higher than the industry average. US stock fees are calculated as follows: 0.35% per transaction, min. $7.99

There are three fee plans to choose from. In this review, we'll show you the fees for the 'Foreign markets' ('Külföld') package, because it has the lowest fees for trading on international stock exchanges. However, if you mostly trade Hungarian equities, the "Profi" plan is a better fit.

Low mutual fund commission

KBC Equitas Mutual fund fees are less than half of the industry average. Mutual fund fees are calculated as follows: K&H funds can be bought for $1-$2

Broker
Mutual fund
KBC Equitas
$2.0
Interactive Brokers
$15.0
Saxo Bank

When it comes to K&H mutual funds, the transaction costs are in the $2 / HUF 500 range per deal. However, for other funds, there is a 1-1.5% fee when you make a purchase.

Average custody fee, low withdrawal fee

No inactivity fee is charged by KBC Equitas.

On the other hand, there is an account fee of HUF 399 per month.

Unlike at many other brokers, you also need to pay a custody fee every month. The custody fee works out to 0.15% of the value of your total assets per year; however, there is a monthly cap of HUF 4,900.

The withdrawal fee is 0.25% with a minimum of HUF 500 and maximum of HUF 20,000. However, it's free if you transfer to your K&H bank account.
