What is scalping?

Scalping is one of many trading strategies. It is a strategy focusing on small price changes for fast profit. Some brokers ban this activity.

The strategy is based on buying and selling almost instantly, within a few seconds.

If the strategy is successful, and you have finished trading, don't forget to withdraw your funds.

What are IC Markets trading restrictions?

There are no trading restrictions when it comes to trade sizes and scalping. IC Markets provides MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 environments for scalping, and promotes itself as offering the "best trading conditions for scalping and high-frequency trading".

Risks of scalping on IC Markets

Scalping is risky, as traders need to keep costs in mind after each opened and closed position.

Costs depend on the account type:

  • Raw accounts have a $3.5 commission per lot per side, with tight spreads
  • Raw accounts on cTrader have the same conditions but at $3.0 per $100,000
  • Standard accounts have no commissions but spreads start from 0.6 pips
